As Richmond Hill continues to grow in population, so too do the variety of services and goods offered by small businesses. The mercantile’s goal is to include all local businesses, not just the traditional “brick & mortar” businesses. A very specific and important goal, though, is to increase awareness of and support of non-traditional businesses.
Non-traditional businesses are those that don’t have a visible storefront, an eye catching sign, or a paid listing in a local, digital or print publication. They’re businesses born of ambitious ideas, willingness to work, and a desire to succeed. As is increasingly common, they deliver goods and services online, onsite, or in a mobile fashion. The Richmond Hill Mercantile seeks to serve and support them too because as they succeed, the local community and economy succeeds.
The Richmond Hill Mercantile wouldn’t truly be a community-focused platform if it didn’t also highlight and support local non-profit organizations. This includes local churches, civic organizations, community action groups, and, of course, charitable organizations. All of these are critical elements in growing and sustaining a community that cares for its own.
Again, the Richmond Hill Mercantile is a free listing and advertising resource. Businesses need only submit their business name, one or more points of contact, ways they can be reached, and a description of their goods or services. The business’ logo and up to five photos of products and services can also be uploaded to better showcase their offerings. Submitted information will be reviewed and verified, and once complete, the business will be added to the corresponding category.
For potential customers, it’s important to understand that inclusion in the mercantile does not constitute endorsement of any specific business or the quality of their goods or services. As always, consumers should do their own due diligence by asking the important questions and, when necessary, requesting references from service providers.
